Spinal cord - dorsal root ganglion - plastic section (40x objective lens)

This view of a plastic section from the dorsal root ganglion shows the large perikarya (cell bodies) of unipolar neurons. Because this is a very thin plastic section, the neuronal nuclei, which are pale staining with a prominent nucleolus, can be seen in only some of the cells. The neurons are surrounded by much smaller satellite cells, with rounded nuclei. The relatively tiny and very dark flattened nuclei belong to capillary endothelial cells.
