Kidney - minor calyx (10x objective lens)

This image shows the lumen and wall of a minor calyx. This funnel shaped structure fits over each renal papilla and collects the urine that flows through the area cribrosa from the papillary ducts of Bellini. In this image, the renal papilla is seen in the upper right corner and the wall of the calyx is seen in the lower left corner. The latter is covered by transitional epithelium.
