Kidney (4x objective lens)

This low magnification view of the feline unipolar kidney shows the boundary between the cortex (to the right) and the medulla (to the left). The cortex contains renal corpuscles, convoluted proximal and distal tubules, and collecting tubules. The medulla contains thin segments of the loops of Henle, collecting ducts and papillary ducts (ducts of Bellini) [not seen in this section]. The descending and ascending ascending segments of the loops of Henle are found in both the cortex and medulla. Sections through arcuate arteries and arcuate veins can be found at the cortex-medulla boundary.
Stain = IHAB.
