passage - nasal mucosa (10x objective lens)
-
This low magnification
image of the nasal passages shows: (1) a lining of pseudostratified
columnar epithelium with ciliated cells
(the cilia are visible as a fuzzy border along the epithelial surface) and
goblet cells (with characteristic unstained apical
cytoplasm); (2) the underlying lamina propria
containing mucous glands and their ducts;
(3) blood and lymphatic vessels; and (4) bone (at the bottom of the image)
to which the nasal mucosa is attached.
