Meissner's corpuscle (40x objective lens)

This high magnification view of a section from the skin shows a Meissner's corpuscle, a touch receptor, located in a dermal papilla just beneath the stratum germinativum. The corpuscle is a large ovoid structure composed of a capsule of spirally arranged connective tissue cells surrounding the invisible unmyelinated ending of a myelinated nerve fiber.
