Sympathetic ganglion (10x objective lens)

This low magnification view shows a human sympathetic ganglion surrounded by the connective tissue capsule. The ganglion contains numerous numerous postsynaptic neurons separated by bundles of nerve fibers. The fibers entering the ganglion are the axons of presynaptic cells located in the spinal cord, whereas the fibers leaving the ganglion are the axons of the postsynaptic ganglion cells.
