Vas deferens (4x objective lens)


This low magnification image shows a tangential section through the beginning portion of the vas deferens (ductus deferens) in the scrotum. The lumen is exposed in two places and is filled with sperm cells. The epithelium and its underlying connective tissue is surounded by a thick layer of smooth muscle. The muscle layer is surrounded by adventitia. Note that the vas deferens is physically separate from the adjacent testis, containing seminiferous tubules.
