This low magnification image of a section from the pancreas shows: 1) large
numbers of serous secretory units (acini),
with circular nuclei and basophilic cytoplasm; 2) several islets
of Langerhans, with lightly stained cells; 3) two intralobular
ducts, in the center and right center, with cuboidal epithelium;
4) connective tissue septa (light-colored
lines), which divide up the lobes of the gland into lobules;
and 5) blood vessels containing eosiniphilic
erythrocytes.
