Mucous secretory units (40x objective lens)

This section shows mucous secretory units in the sublingual gland, surrounded by pink-stained connective tissue. Note the flattened nuclei located at the very base of the cells and the unstained cytoplasm of the secretory cells. Angling across the bottom of the image is a duct with a wall of simple cuboidal epithelium.
