This high magnification image of a plastic section from kidney shows the simple
squamous epithelium that forms the outer layer (parietal layer)
of Bowman's capsule in the kidney. Note the characteristic flattened
nuclei of squamous cells (arrow), which
bulge into the lumen of the urinary space, the thin cell bodies and the pale
stained basement membrane.
