This plastic section shows the simple cuboidal epithelium that forms
the walls of the collecting tubules of the kidney, shown here in cross section.
Note the circular nuclei within a single layer
of cells that are about as wide as they are tall (arrow).
The slighlty rounded apical surface of the cells bulge into the lumen of the
tubules. Also look for the more flattened nuclei, which are the nuclei
of the endothelial cells that line the capillaries associated
with these tubules.
