view of the plastic section from the liver shows chords of hepatocytes, with
spherical nuclei, separated by sinusoids, through which blood flows into the
central vein. Note the pink-staining erythrocytes that fill the sinusoids.
The flattened nuclei (arrow) belong to the endothelial cells that form the
lining of the sinusoids. Although not visible, bile canaliculi are located
between the hepatocytes where they adhere to one another.
