Liver - bile canaliculi (20x objective lens)


This image shows the area to the lower left of the central vein (CV) at higher magnification. The circular hepatocyte nuclei (He) are lightly stained and the hepatic sinusoids (Si) appear as clear, narrow passages of irregular size. The darkly stained bile canaliculi (BC) are seen to be formed from numerous short straight segments linked in a tortuous branching pattern. Note the spatial separation of the bile canaliculi from the sinusoids.
