Liver (40x objective lens)


This high magnification view of the liver, injected with India ink (carbon particles) shows chords of hepatocytes separated by sinusoids, through which blood flows into the central vein seen in the upper right corner of the image. The black patches show the location of Kupffer cells (macrophages) which have phagocytosed the carbon particles from the India ink.
Stain = H&E.
