This portion of the anal canal is covered by hairy skin, consisting of epidermis
(Ep) and its underlying dermis (De). The
epidermis is a typical keratinizing stratified squamous
epithelium (KSSE) with a prominent stratum corneum
(SC). The dermis contains hair follicles (HF)
with associated sebaceous glands (Se).
