Colon (40x objective lens)

This high magnification view of the colon shows crypts of Lieberkuhn, lined by a simple columnar epithelium with numerous goblet cells and absorptive cells. Note the terminal bars (dark dots) and terminal web (dark line between the dots) at the apices of the epithelial cells. The crypts are surrounded by the loose connective tissue of the lamina propria.
