Colon (10x objective lens)


This medium magnification view of the colon shows, from top to bottom: 1) the lumen, containing fecal matter; 2) the mucosa, containing crypts of Lieberkuhn, lined by a simple columnar epithelium of absorptive cells and goblet cells; the lamina propria; and the muscularis mucosae; and 3) a submucosa of loose connective tissue.
