Duodenum - Brunner's Glands (40x objective lens)


This high magnification view of the duodenum shows the boundary between the mucosa, located above the pink-staining muscularis mucosae, containing the bases of crypts of Lieberkuhn, and the submucosa, located below the m.m., containing seromucous Brunner's glands. Note the terminal bars terminal webs located at the apical margins of the epithelial cells of both the mucosal glands and Brunner's glands.
