Brown adipose connective tissue (20x objective lens)

At this magnification, the most prominent feature of brown adipose cells is the highly vesiculated cytoplasm. The unstained spaces of variable size mark the location of the multiple fat droplets that characterize these cells. The lipids are dissolved during dehydration, leaving the empty spaces, which do not stain. The vesicles are surrounded by eosinophilic cytoplasm.
Stain = H&E.
