Hematoxylin and eosin staining: Soft palate (10x objective lens)


In this section of soft palate stained with H&E, nuclei are stained purple (basophilic) with hematoxylin. The cytoplasm of muscle and connective tissue cells (lower half of image) is acidophilic (eosinophilic), while the cytoplasm of the glandular cells (yellow arrow) in the upper half of the image is either basophilic or unstained.
