Lymphatic vessel - plastic section (40x objective lens)

This plastic section shows a large lymphatic vessel in the connective tissue of the colon. The vessel is lined by a simple squamous epithelium of endothelial cells. Endothelial cell nuclei are seen bulging into the lumen of the vessel. Note the irregular shape of this vessel, which appears to cover the irregular surfaces of the surrounding connective tissue. Note the smooth muscle cells at the upper edge of the image.
Stain = H&E.
