Arteriole, venule, and lymphatic (100x objective lens)


High magnification image of a section from the connective tissue of the lip, showing an arteriole (to the left), a venule (center) and a lymphatic vessel (to the right). Blood cells are present in the lumen of the arteriole and vein butabsent from the lumen of lymphatic vessel. The wall of the lymphatic vessel is very thin, made by endothelial cells. Note the smooth muscle cells in the wall of the arteriole.
