Arteriole, venule, and capillary (100x objective lens)

High magnification image of a section through an arteriole (upper right), with two smooth muscle nuclei cut in longitudinal section, wrapping around its outer surface. Just below and to the left is its corresponding venule, with two endothelial cell nuclei cut in cross section. A capillary is seen below and to the left of the venule. It has a single endothelial cell nucleus. The surrounding connective tissue is highly refringent due to the high contrast of the image caused by closing the condenser diaphragm.
