Vein, artery and nerve (10x objective lens)

This low magnification image shows a section through a vein ( elongated structure in the upper part of the image), a muscular artery (on the lower right), and a nerve (left, center), surrounded by adipose connective tissue. Note the typical differences between large arteries and their accompanying veins. The vein has a larger diameter but a relatively thinner wall than the artery. The artery also has a prominent tunica media, with elastic fibers, whereas the tunica media of the vein is not prominent.
