Purkinje Fibers (10x objective lens)

This low magnification image of the heart wall shows a thick bundle of Purkinje fibers (in the middle, between the cardiac muscle cells), which forms part of the conducting system of the heart. Note that individual cells of Purkinje fibers are much larger in diameter than ordinary cardiac muscle cells.
