Jizhong Zhou, Presidential Professor of Botany and Microbiology, recently was featured in The ISME Journal for his work designing a gene chip designed for studying biogeochemical, ecological and environmental processes.

Edgar Heap of Birds, professor of art and Native American Studies, was selected by the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian to display his art at the 2007 Venice Biennale contemporary Native American arts initiative. His piece, "Most Serene Republics," is part of a two-part public art installation, presented from June 6 to Sept. 30. The first installation will be located in the Giardini Reali near the Piazza San Marco and the second will be located between the Giardini Napoleonici and Via Garibaldi, along the Viale Garibaldi.
