2006 Kaleidoscope Evening: A Star-filled Evening!
More than 200 people attended the Kaleidoscope Evening February 24 and enjoyed speeches by Distinguished Alumni Award winners George Counts, David Hall, Clara Sue Kidwell and Gary Sandefur. The Silent Auction brought in $15,000, with items such as hand-crafted items from the Leadership Scholars, Lloyd Noble Center Behind the Scenes package, golf with OU assistant football Coach Kevin Sumlin and tickets to a Hornets NBA game.
As guests entered the ballroom at Oklahoma Memorial Union, they were greeted by Leadership Scholars and escorted into the auction area. In the ballroom, a jazz quartet from the Weitzenhoffer College of Fine Arts was entertaining guests. Soon, dinner was announced and everyone moved into the ballroom, which was resplendent with candlelight and crystals. Guests enjoyed pork tenderloin and vegetables and tiramisu for dessert. Counts, Hall, Kidwell and Sandefur were presented plaques and each offered comments as recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Awards. Receiving awards for service that evening were Jeanne Hoffman Smith and Jon Withrow. Faculty, staff, students, donors and friends were treated to a wonderful evening of conversation and fun, all for a good cause: scholarship money for students.
