OU-Tulsa Applied Research Center Holds Open House
On February 10, the OU-Tulsa Applied Research Center held an open house. Approximately 90 individuals representing non-profit, city government and educational institutions attended the event, which was hosted by President Ken Levit. Chan M. Hellman, assistant professor of human relations and founder of the center, presented certificates of partnership to Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Tulsa C.A.R.E.S., Hospice of Green Country, Tulsa Habitat for Humanity and the OU-Tulsa College of Medicine. Representatives of these agencies spoke on the impact the partnerships have had on their agencies.
The Applied Research Center at OU-Tulsa is an
interdisciplinary center designed to provide research, consulting and assessment
services to social service and other agencies in Tulsa. Not only does the Center fill a badly needed void in the
Tulsa region, it provides critical research and training links for students in
professional programs. Its vision is to provide Tulsa and the surrounding areas with a premier external research support to promote the effectiveness of community service agencies.
A Fond Farewell
The faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences would like to congratulate Vivian Glore on her new position as Director of Administrative Affairs and Alumni Relations for the College of Public Health at the OU Health Sciences Center. Her tireless work on behalf of A&S is much appreciated and she will be missed. The Health Sciences Center is lucky to get such a dedicated associate.
